Connect tags are placeholders that automatically fill in with the right information when a message is sent, and are available when creating message templates or composing SMS messages across the Campaign and Conversation pages, as well as within Work It. This article provides a full reference of available tags, including recently added location and booking tags that give staff more flexibility when personalizing member-facing messages.
Please Note: Connect tags are system-defined. Custom tags cannot be created, and studios do not have the ability to add or modify the available tags.
Content:
Before You Begin
- Tags are available in the Campaign and Conversation pages in Connect, as well as within the Work It widget.
- Tags can be inserted using the tag picker within the template editor or message composer; you do not need to type them manually.
- If a tag value is missing for a specific member or location, for example, if no upcoming booking exists or a location field is not populated, the tag will resolve as blank in the sent message. Review your message carefully before sending to avoid unintended blank fields.
- The Location Phone Number tag pulls the phone number associated with the studio location and may not always match the SMS or messaging number your studio uses to send messages through Connect. These are two separate fields and should not be assumed to be the same.
- Some tags are only available in specific template types. See the table below for details.

Where to Find Tags

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I create my own custom tags or modify existing ones?
A: No. Connect tags are system-defined and cannot be customized. Studios do not have the ability to add, edit, or remove available tags. If a tag you need is not available, contact support to submit a feature request.
Q: What happens if a tag value is missing for a specific member or location?
A: If the system cannot find a value for a tag, for example, if a member has no upcoming bookings and you use the Booking Next tag, or if a location field is not populated, the tag will resolve as blank in the sent message. Always preview your message before sending to ensure no unintended blank fields appear in the final output.
Q: Is the Location Phone Number tag the same as the number my studio sends messages from in Connect?
A: Not necessarily. The Location Phone Number tag pulls the phone number associated with the studio location as configured in the system. This may be different from the SMS or messaging number your studio uses to send Connect messages. If you are unsure which number is configured for your location, check with your admin or contact support.
Q: Are the new Booking Next and Booking Last tags available in all template types?
A: These tags are available in Connect templates and messages across Campaign, Conversation, and Work It. However, as with all booking-related tags, if no relevant booking data exists for a member at the time the message is sent, the tag will resolve as blank. It is recommended to use these tags in contexts where booking data is expected to be present, such as follow-up or reminder messaging workflows.
